Bulk SKU generator for product variants

Create readable, consistent SKU codes for every color, size, material, or other product variant. Copy the list or download it as a CSV.

Build your SKU structure

Enter comma-separated variant values. Your product data stays in this browser.

Optional. A short code shared across your catalog.
A recognizable abbreviation for this product.
Usually colors, styles, or materials. Separate values with commas or new lines.
Usually sizes, packs, or models. Leave blank if the product has one variant group.

How to create a SKU naming convention

Choose a small set of product attributes that help your team identify an item without opening a product record. Start broad with a brand, department, or category code, then move toward the product and its variant details. Use the same segment order everywhere.

SKU versus UPC, EAN, or barcode

A SKU is an internal identifier created by your business. UPC and EAN numbers are standardized identifiers assigned through official systems. A barcode is the machine-readable representation of a value. Generating a SKU does not create an official UPC or EAN.

Can Shopify variants share a SKU?

Each Shopify product variant should normally have a unique SKU. Duplicate values make inventory reporting, fulfillment, integrations, and marketplace synchronization harder to trust.

How many characters should a SKU contain?

There is no universal perfect length. Use the shortest structure that remains understandable and leaves room for future products. Consistency matters more than squeezing every product detail into the code.
